Denture Cleaning Tips

Follow these simple steps to help keep your dentures clean.

Did you know dentures require regular cleaning, much like natural teeth? With effective dental hygiene practices, you can help increase the lifespan of your denture, while also caring for your other oral tissues, including any remaining natural teeth and your gums.

Practice These Steps Each Day to Keep Your Dentures in the Best Possible Condition

  • Begin by removing your dentures from your mouth and rinsing them with clean water to dislodge any sticky food debris.
  • Next, take a soft toothbrush or a denture brush with mild soap or denture cleaner, and gently brush your dentures. Be sure to use only approved denture cleaners, as other products may be too abrasive and damage your denture.
  • After brushing, rinse your dentures with clean water again.
  • Using a soft, wet toothbrush and fluoridated toothpaste, gently brush your natural teeth and gums before returning your dentures to your mouth. If this is uncomfortable, try wrapping a soft, wet washcloth around your index finger and rub it gently over your gums.

Denturists are dental experts who focus specifically on dentures. They receive specialized training in the aesthetic design, creation, care, and application of dentures.

Denturists are not doctors. Instead, they are dental experts with a sole focus on treating patients who wear dentures, including providing denture repairs, complete dentures, dentures on implants, and many other denture services.

Are dentures a good idea?

Dentures are not necessarily the best option for every patient. However, for many people, they provide a comfortable, affordable, and effective solution for a number of dental or oral health concerns they may be experiencing.
